Join our Team!

Would you like to get paid to spend time with dogs on local trails and beaches, and cats in their homes? Doggy Lama Pet Care offers a positive-reinforcement (R+)-oriented pet care experience to support families in the East Bay (Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, and Alameda). The dogs we walk are carefully vetted based on individual temperament. The largest part of our business is off-leash trail hikes, and we also provide private dog walks on leash, and kitty visits in their homes. We’re looking for a few more pet-loving, responsible humans to join our team!

“Thank you Molly, Kendrae, and Beth for being the most awesome support team ever!” --Heather, group dog walker since 2016

Group walker

Walk groups of up to six stable, happy dogs off leash in East Bay parks. You’ll never be asked to walk a dog you haven’t been trained on. We use positive reinforcement, so you won’t have to use prong collars, choke chains, shock collars, or yank on a dog’s collar to “correct” him. Instead, we ask dogs to come to us, “leave it” or “drop it” and reward them with treats, praise, and life rewards (like getting to run off leash). Get paid to spend time with happy furry friends on the trail instead of working in a cube or sitting in meetings all day!

Private walker

Make a 1:1 connection with some of the sweetest Bay Area dogs on leash (or 2:1 if both pups come from the same family). You might start your day by helping a puppy with house-training and appropriate non-bite-y play, and then direct a high-drive dog to channel her energy with a “doggy parkour” session (jumping up on and running along walls in the park). You might end your day with a limited-vision senior dog who needs help navigating the neighborhood so he can keep up on neighborhood happenings via his sense of smell. These are some of the roles our private dog walkers play in the lives of our clients.

Cat Visitor

Listen to music or NPR with the contented cats of the East Bay as you feed them, give them fresh water, and scoop their litter. Some are snugglers and want to be held and brushed; others are fierce players, (“Laser pointer, anyone?”). Our clients trust us with their beloved furry family members and we feel privileged to care for their kitties while they’re gone for the weekend or on vacation. Some kitties need meds once or twice a day and we’re fine to give oral medicine but we refer more complicated medical regimens to vet tech businesses.
