Group Hikes

“Let’s hit the trails!”

Our dog-walking clients don't just go on dog walks--they have adventures! Dog walks are group outings to the trails for a minimum of one hour hiking time. Dogs are usually off-leash, although we usually start a new dog in the group on the leash until we can be sure of the dog's recall. Some of our favorite hiking spots are Redwood Regional Park, Anthony Chabot Regional Park, Leona Canyon, Claremont Canyon, and Strawberry Canyon. Occasionally we go to the Albany Bulb, Pt. Isabel, or the Bridgeview Trail. We decide which trail to go to depending on trail, traffic, and weather conditions, and on group size and fitness level. We have permits with the East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) to take up to six dogs at a time on EBRPD trails.

All dogs in our groups are up to date on shots, neutered or spayed, and good with other dogs. We're not dog trainers but we do constantly reinforce good trail manners with positive reinforcement. We pick up and return your dog to your home, rinsing and/or toweling your dog off as needed before we leave your relaxed and happy dog to wait for you. Dogs are usually out of the house two to three hours, including travel time, and your dog will always get a minimum of an hour actually hiking the trails.

Details

All walks are a minimum of one hour on the trail. We do not offer group hikes on evenings, weekends, or holidays, but we may be able to give your dog a private walk if needed. Clients must sign up for a package of at least two walks per week on a regular schedule. No credits are given for cancellations. Clients sign up for auto-pay and their credit cards are debited monthly after services have been completed.

"I recommend Molly and her fabulous team at Doggy Lama unreservedly! They have walked and boarded two dogs for us since 2008 and are completely trustworthy, compassionate and beloved by the dogs. When one of our dogs got cancer at an early age, Molly herself walked him almost every day that we could not, to ensure that the time he had left was as enjoyable as possible. I am forever grateful."
