Training

“My trainer teaches me, “Look at me’ and then I don’t worry about other dogs on the street.”—Violet, pittie mix

Everyone needs to learn social skills—even dogs! And sometimes, when the pandemic or other circumstances have gotten in the way, pooches need a little assistance to be comfortable and appropriate—whether it’s on the trails, in their neighborhood, or within the family. Whatever a client’s goals are, we support them with positive-reinforcement dog training. These are some of the challenges we help with:

  • Improving recall so dogs can go off leash on trails with their families or group walks with us

  • Reducing shyness or nervousness with other dogs or people

  • Addressing reactivity (barking, lunging, snapping, or biting) to other dogs or people

  • Helping dogs have appropriate play behavior so they can join group hikes

  • Being comfortable and having good manners while traveling in the car

  • Addressing housetraining and other “recent rescue” or puppy issues

All training services start with an initial consultation at the client’s home with the trainer to discuss behaviors and goals and which initial program of day training, training the dog with their family, and/or behavior modification would be most appropriate to achieve the client’s goals. The initial consultation is $150 for an hour in the client’s home. Sessions on weekday evenings after 5PM and on weekends are an additional $20.

“We had a fabulous training session with Vero! Vero showed Luna and me some great skills which Luna responded amazingly well to, and gave me the confidence to trust and try new things with Luna! Overall an A+ training! Vero is such an intuitive trainer, and both Luna and I are learning a lot from her!“
